Albino Borrego Rosy Boa
Albino Borrego Rosy Boa – T+ Desert Glow from Southern California
The Albino Borrego Rosy Boa is a T-positive (T+) recessive mutation developed from the Borrego Springs locality of Lichanura trivirgata gracia in Southern California. This morph reduces melanin while retaining subtle pigment, producing an elegant mix of golden-yellow striping over a soft cream or pale orange base—a luminous, desert-inspired palette that truly glows under natural light.
It has been suggested that the original Albino Borrego line may have originated through the introduction of a Whitewater Albino into Borrego locality stock many years ago. Although I cannot speak to the truth of this, I can confidently say that all of my stock has only ever been bred into pure Borrego locality animals, maintaining both the appearance and integrity of the Borrego line. Over time, this line has become visually and genetically stable, representing what most now recognize as the true T+ Albino Borrego form.
These boas are calm, hardy, and reliable feeders, reflecting the temperament and resilience typical of the Borrego Springs locality. The Albino Borrego Rosy Boa captures the radiant beauty of the desert and stands as a refined, long-stabilized example of locality-based selective breeding.
Line origin: Borrego Springs, California, USA
Genetics: Recessive T+ Albino (originally believed to have Whitewater influence; bred exclusively into Borrego lines for many generations)
Species: Lichanura trivirgata gracia (Desert Rosy Boa)
Highlights: T+ albino mutation • Golden-yellow striping • Cream to pale orange base • Long-stabilized Borrego line • Calm and hardy temperament
